N1 Hotel Victoria Falls (previously part of the African Sun group) is the cleanest mid-range bet in town — central, reliable, and straightforward. The pool area is well-maintained, and the location puts you within a ten-minute walk of the main activity booking offices on Parkway Drive.
Victoria Falls Backpackers operates at the budget-to-mid crossover. Despite the name, it offers en-suite rooms in addition to dormitories, and the garden has a social atmosphere that suits solo travellers. Double rooms run approximately USD 60–90 per night. Transfers to the falls are easy to arrange through the in-house activities desk.
The Lokuthula Lodges — privately managed self-catering cottages on the grounds of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge to the north of town — suit families or small groups wanting more space than a standard hotel room. Two-bedroom units sleep four and run from approximately USD 180–300 per night depending on season. Access to the Safari Lodge pool and restaurant is included.
Budget — Hostels and Guesthouses
Shoestrings Backpackers has been the budget institution in Victoria Falls for decades. A bunk in a dormitory runs around USD 15–20 per night; private rooms from USD 35–55. The location is in town, activities boards are everywhere, and the vibe is firmly backpacker-hostel: communal dinners, pool, and noisy evenings.
Penelope’s Bed & Breakfast and similar small guesthouses scatter through the residential streets south of Livingstone Way. Rates typically run USD 40–70 per night including breakfast. They offer more personal service than the larger hotels and are often run by local families with good knowledge of what’s worth booking and what’s overpriced.
Staying Inside Zambezi National Park
If you want to extend beyond the town entirely, Masuwe Private Game Reserve and Tsowa Safari Island sit on the Zambian channel of the Zambezi west of Victoria Falls. Rates at properties in this area start from approximately USD 500 per night all-inclusive and rise steeply. The trade-off is genuine wilderness — no fences between you and the national park — versus the convenience of town.
